Anthony Quintal of Sunrise, Florida was arrested last Saturday for allegedly beating, robbing, and raping a 60-year-old woman. He faces charges for aggravated battery, sexual battery, and some unspecified drug-related offenses. It is unclear if bond has been set for Quintal, 25, or if he has acquired the services of an attorney.
According to the arrest report, Quintal purportedly attacked the woman while she was taking a walk near Cypress Preserve Park on Northwest 90th Terrace in the early hours of the Saturday morning. Police say Quintal first approached her with the intention of stealing her cellphone, but the victim doesn’t speak English well and could not understand his demands.
The victim reportedly tried to ignore Quintal and continued walking, but that allegedly enraged Quintal. He purportedly punched her repeatedly and dragged her into the bushes, where he sexually assaulted her. Quintal reportedly forced her to perform oral sex after he had trouble removing her pants.
When the victim tried to escape, Quintal allegedly choked and beat her almost unconscious, leaving her with a fractured nose and eye socket. The victim told police that Quintal took her cellphone before he left.
Police claim to have surveillance footage showing Quintal walking away from the area of the alleged attack. When detectives arrested him, he reportedly went to the station voluntarily and gave a written confession.
A similar case was reported last month involving Ronkedrick Alphonse of Hollywood, Florida. Alphonse, 28, purportedly sexually assaulted a woman with a weapon in her home. He allegedly threatened the victim with a gun before raping her in her bedroom.
According to the arrest report, Alphonse forced the victim to perform oral sex on him after he raped her and threatened to “bust her teeth in” if she tried to hurt him. He was arrested a few hours after the alleged sexual assault for an unrelated case involving a teenager he reportedly rubbed his genitals against last year. He is being held without bond.
