Delmar O’Sullivan of Miami Beach, Florida was arrested for allegedly groping, kidnapping, and sexually assaulting a woman on Christmas Day.
O’Sullivan, 23, faces charges for sexual battery, false imprisonment, and kidnapping. He is being held on bond at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. The press did not name an attorney for O’Sullivan.
According to the arrest report, the alleged incident occurred after 10 p.m. on December 25 on a boardwalk in Miami Beach. The victim was reportedly walking alone when she was approached by O’Sullivan, who complimented her appearance.
The victim told investigators that O’Sullivan was smoking a “marijuana cigarette.” After he gave her the compliment, he allegedly began touching her body without her consent. The victim said she pushed O’Sullivan away, telling him she wasn’t comfortable. O’Sullivan then allegedly asked her to go with him to the shoreline, but she refused.
O’Sullivan reportedly grabbed the victim’s hands, but she pulled away. He asked if he could hug her. She initially declined but eventually consented out of fear, the report said. O’Sullivan then grabbed the victim and took her to the shoreline where he proceeded to rape her, according to the report.
O’Sullivan purportedly sent the victim a message via social media six days later asking to meet her again. The victim informed the police and they arranged a meeting. O’Sullivan was taken into custody at the meeting location. In a sworn statement, O’Sullivan allegedly admitted to touching the victim inappropriately and taking her to the shoreline, but he denied some of the rape accusations.
Another sexual assault case was reported in Boca Raton last week. Juan Botello-Patino was arrested on December 22 and is accused of repeatedly raping a teenager, impregnating her and giving herpes.
Botello-Patino, 26, faces 20 counts of sexual battery. He is being held without bond at the Palm Beach County Jail. The press did not name an attorney for him.
According to the arrest report, the alleged sexual assault began in September 2016. The victim was a virgin at the time. The victim, now 18, told detectives that Botello-Patino raped her again in January and the assault continued until October 2017.
She said she agreed to do whatever Botello-Patino wanted to do sexually because she was afraid of him. During one of the incidents, he became so angry because she refused to have sex with him, he pushed her on the bed, climbed on top of her and choked her while “laughing,” according to the report.
At their last encounter in October, Botello-Patino was allegedly so forceful, the victim had to go to a hospital. It was during the hospital visit that she learned she was pregnant and had contracted herpes.
When questioned by police, Botello-Patino reportedly admitted to having repeated sexual encounters with the victim, but he said it was consensual. According to the arrest affidavit, he told detectives he was under the influence of drugs during the encounters and blames his actions on his drug habit.
