Christoper Johnson of Davie, FL, Arrested after Porn Videos, Photos Link Him to Missing Underage Teen Girl

handcuffs-2102488_1280-300x169Christopher Johnson of Davie, FL, was arrested this week for his alleged involvement in the case of a missing teenage girl.

Johnson, 30, faces a felony charge of lewd or lascivious battery on a victim under 16. He was ordered held on $75,000 bond. The press did not name an attorney for him.

According to Davie police, the 15-year-old girl was reported missing by her family the day after Christmas last year. On September 3 this year, the teen’s mother found sexually explicit videos of her daughter online and brought the information to police.

After some digging, investigators were able to find 58 pornographic videos of the underage girl on several websites, including Pornhub, Modelhub, Periscope, Snapchat, and other websites. The teen was either fully nude or topless in all the videos. She can be seen performing oral sex and sexual intercourse in at least two of them on two unknown black men, the report said.

In some of the videos the teen was with a bald man who investigators believe was one of two men the girl was seen with in February when a clerk at a 7-Eleven in Sunrise recognized her and reported the sighting to police. Video surveillance from the store showed the girl and two men leave in a black Dodge Challenger.

On October 14, police were informed that the black Challenger had been seen at the same 7-Eleven the previous day. This time they were able to identify the vehicle’s tag number and learned that it was registered to Johnson.

Police placed his apartment in the 8100 block of SW 24th Court under surveillance, the report said. Earlier this week, officers pulled over Johnson after he was seen living with the teen in the Challenger.

The victim told police that several of the videos of her having sex with Johnson had been recorded at his apartment, according to the report. She also told them that she had gotten pregnant with Johnson’s baby and he allegedly forced her to have an abortion. A search of Johnson’s apartment reportedly yielded paperwork from an abortion clinic.

“The victim stated that she got pregnant from the defendant and he took her to the clinic to have an abortion,” a detective wrote in the police report.

When interviewed by police, Johnson denied having any sexual contact with the teen.

Lewd and lascivious battery of a minor under 16 is a second-degree felony punishable by 15 to 25 years in prison depending on the circumstances. Driver in Davie Crash Was Distracted When She Struck Bicyclists, Killing Two and Injuring Four, Police Say

bicycle-bicycling-bike-1059291-300x199Nicole Vanderweit of Broward County, Florida was reportedly “distracted” when she crashed into a group of cyclists in Davie, killing two and injuring four.

According to news sources, the car crash occurred at around 8:30 a.m. on November 23 in the eastbound lanes of State Road 84, east of SW 148th Avenue in Davie.

The cyclists were members of a group called Cycling Family Broward. They regularly ride in the Davie area on weekends, although in much larger numbers. That Sunday’s ride began at 7:30 a.m. in Pembroke Pines and was to last for three hours, sources say.

Vanderweit, 33, was driving a Honda Fit in the same direction as the cyclists when she crashed into them. She later told police she was distracted by something, but she was unable to remember what.

“She admitted to being distracted with something in the passenger compartment of her car,” Davie Police Department spokesman Sgt. Mark Leone told the press. “That, coupled with the sun directly in her face from the east, caused or contributed to this fatal crash.”

Two of the cyclists, Carlos Rodriguez, 62, and Denise Marsh, 53, have died. Three others are in stable condition: Maria Bautista, 56; Edgar Reyes, 48; and John Beitz, 49. The last member was a 14-year-old who only scraped a knee and wasn’t hospitalized, police said.

Investigators say there were no signs that Vanderweit was impaired or speeding. She remained at the scene of the crash and cooperated with the police. She gave them consent to download crash data from her vehicle and gave them her mobile phone.

Records show Vanderweit has received two speeding tickets in the past six years. In 2012, she was cited for driving 85 mph in a 65-mph zone in Palm Beach County, and in 2014, she was cited for doing 45 mph in a 25-mph zone in Plantation. She pleaded no contest in both incidents.

Vanderweit released the following statement to Local 10 News:

“I am truly sorry that any of my actions led to the tragic events yesterday. My wholehearted condolence to Denise Marsha and her family. No words can express how sorry I am about your loss,” Vanderweit said. “Please know that if I could trade places with Mrs. Marsh, I would.”

Pembroke Pines School Coach Accused of Sending Inappropriate Texts to Student

adult-architecture-brick-212288-300x209The head soccer coach at Somerset Academy in Pembroke Pines, Florida was arrested last Friday after he allegedly sent suggestive text messages and nude images of himself to a female student.

Owen Cleveland Gayle, 38, of Davie faces five charges, including use of a computer to solicit a child, promoting the sexual performance of a child, and transmission of harmful material to a minor. He is being held at Broward County’s Main Jail on $125,000 bond. The press did not name a lawyer for him.

According to the police report, Gayle used WhatsApp to communicate with his students at Somerset Academy, a charter school in the 20800 block of Johnson Street. Gayle allegedly used the app to text a girl who volunteered with his soccer team and sent her nude images of himself. He asked the girl to send him nude pictures of herself, police said.

The girl, whose age was not disclosed, reported Gayle’s messages to another coach, who called the police. A detective took over the girl’s account and continued communicating with Gayle. That was when Gayle allegedly responded with nude pictures and requested the student send her own nudes. After he was arrested, Gayle purportedly admitted to all charges.

Police are asking parents to speak to their children in regards to Gayle. In addition to coaching at Somerset Academy, Gayle was a soccer coach at First Touch Academy, Soccer Elite Training, and the City of Weston AYSO Select Program.

Another solicitation case involving an adult and a minor was reported in Miami-Dade last week. Firefighter Kevin Kerlin, 45, was charged with solicitation of a minor and unlawful use of a two-way communication device. Kerlin alleged solicited the minor using the social media app Snapchat.

According to the arrest report, the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force began investigating Kerlin in May 2018 after they discovered the sexual messages he sent to a 14-year-old girl from Jupiter. Kerlin allegedly asked the teen for nude pictures of herself and many of the messages implied that the he wanted to engage in sexual activity with the teen.

Kerlin’s wife reportedly found a nude photo of the teen in his phone in April. That prompted him to tell the 14-year-old that they had to “be good” and that “when the time is right we will know . . . when to have sex without getting caught,” sources say.

Kerlin was on paid administrative leave until he was formally indicted on felony charges last week. He is now suspended without pay. He has worked with the Miami-Dade rescue department since 2000. The department is reportedly conducting its own investigation and pre-disciplinary hearing is scheduled for this week.

HIV-Positive Man Arrested in Davie, Florida After Being Accused of Raping Multiple Underage Victims

Bell, 55, faces nearly a dozen charges, including five counts of lewd or lascivious acts upon a minor and three counts of failing to disclose that he has HIV. He is being held in Pompano Beach on $850,100 bond. The press did not name an attorney for him.

Sgt. Mark Leone of the Davie police referred to Bell as “this animal” when he announced his arrest during a press conference on October 31.

“This animal victimized a 14-year-old girl that he was having sex with over the course of a few months,” Leone said, according to the Sun Sentinel. “We believe there are other victims out there.”

Bell allegedly had sexual relations with the 14-year-old victim multiple times at his home between August and October. The victim told her mother and investigators that Bell repeatedly fondled her, never wore a condom during sex, and he showed her images of naked children.

Investigators recorded a telephone conversation between Bell and the 14-year-old victim. When the victim asked him why he had sex with her. Bell reportedly replied, “You wanted it, too. Don’t lie.” He further explained, “It just happened. I don’t know why. It won’t happen anymore.”

When the victim said she was upset, Bell asked her: “Do you want me to go to jail?” before he blamed her for wanting to have sex.

During his arrest, Bell reportedly refused to leave his vehicle and clashed with the officers when the attempted to detain him. When interviewed by police, he allegedly admitted to having unprotected sex with the 14-year-old and to having nude pictures of her on his cellphone.

Investigators suspected there were additional victims, including at least two boys aged 8 to 13. The suspicion stemmed from a warranted search of Bell’s cellphone, which reportedly held “multiple images and videos of child pornography, including himself having sex with these young, young children,” Leone said.

Leone noted that Bell admitted he was HIV-positive and was diagnosed in 1999. He reportedly transmitted the virus to his ex-wife about two decades ago. The 14-year-old victim is currently being tested to conclude if she also contracted the virus.

A 13-year-old boy was added to the list of Bell’s victims on November 5.
