Florida attorney Andrew Spark was arrested on December 17 for allegedly exposing himself and having sex with female inmates at Pinellas County Jail.
Spark, 55, was charged with indecent exposure, soliciting for prostitution, and possession of contraband in a detention facility. He posted bond for all three charges. It is unclear if he has hired an attorney.
According to Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, the alleged solicitations occurred at Pinellas County Jail at 14400 48th Street in Clearwater. Spark allegedly used his position as an attorney to meet with female inmates and paid them to have sex with him while he recorded it on video. Investigators don’t know if Spark’s alleged encounters were sold or posted online.
As an attorney, Spark was reportedly allowed to meet inmates in a private room that had no surveillance cameras or recording equipment. Attorneys are allowed to bring electronic devices like cellphones or tablets to interviews with inmates, Guiltieri said.
“We do extend [attorneys] that privilege so they can be efficient in their representation of their clients,” Gualtieri said. “This is a guy who understood what the privileges were and decided he was going to exploit that and use it to his advantage.”
Detectives launched an undercover operation to capture Spark in the act after they received reports about his alleged actions. An inmate named Shanna Boselli, who was sentenced to 40 years on child porn charges, told investigators that Spark asked her to have sex with him on camera around a year ago, but they were unable to agree on a price.
Boselli began serving her sentence in June and Spark reportedly met her again last month, even though he does not represent her.
“He really duped the system,” Gualtieri told the press in reference to Boselli. “He shouldn’t have had access to her.”
Boselli told investigators that she was surprised to see Spark and that he bragged about meeting inmates and taking videos of them performing oral sex on him in exchange for money in their commissary accounts. Spark’s allegedly told Boselli that he was producing a porn video titled ”Girls in Jail” and offered to deposit money in her commissary account if she had sex with him. Boselli declined his offer.
Detectives discovered that Spark also met with Antoinette Napolitano, who is serving time for multiple drug charges, on the day he met Boselli. He reportedly first met her three years ago through prostitution ads she posted online, but he is not representing her.
Spark purportedly visited Napolitano, 28, again on December 17, and this time investigators bugged their interview room. Spark began the interview by filming Napolitano in her uniform and asked her to talk about her sexual fantasies before she performed sex acts on him. When he exposed himself to her, detectives entered the room and arrested him.
Investigators are reportedly looking into all of Spark’s visits to the prison to find out if he propositioned any other inmates. They are also working to obtain a search warrant for his iPad, which he allegedly used to film the sex acts.
