Jason Olreidge of Tamarac, Florida was arrested on Monday for allegedly assaulting an 11-year-old boy outside his apartment complex. Olreidge, 22, faces charges for lewd and lascivious conduct and lewd and lascivious molestation.

He had his first-appearance court session on Tuesday where he was ordered jailed without bond and was prohibited from contacting the victim or being within 500 feet of a playground, school, or children’s event. News sources did not specify an attorney for Olreidge.

According to the police report, the 11-year-old victim was taking out the trash from his apartment in Tamarac when a man purportedly rode up to him on a bicycle. The encounter reportedly escalated when the adult put his hand down the boy’s pants and attempted to kiss him.

The victim told authorities that the man introduced himself as “J” and asked the boy for his name and whether “he was looking for a boyfriend.” The man then allegedly got physical and placed his hand down the boy’s pants to rub his genitals, then asked him whether he would like to engage in another sex act.

The boy refused and pulled away from the stranger and went home, but the man reportedly followed him all the way home, where he grabbed and kissed him before the boy managed to push away and slip into the safety of his apartment.

The child’s parents reported the encounter to authorities. It is unclear how the boy identified the stranger as Olreidge, but the 11-year-old reportedly told police that he had seen Olreidge around his neighborhood before and that they had never spoken until that encounter.

Police contacted Olreidge, who works at a barbershop, and he reportedly told authorities that he had been working all day and had not come in contact with any children. Olreidge’s supervisor told investigators that while his employee was at work the whole day, there was a period when he briefly left the store and his whereabouts were unknown. Police also reportedly got a statement from a relative of Olreidge who allegedly saw him riding his bicycle around the apartment complex.
