Josue Ramirez Perez of West Palm Beach, Florida was arrested last Friday for allegedly downloading child porn on his desktop computer. Perez, 35, is reportedly employed by Southwest Airlines. He is being charged with 22 counts of possession of child pornography.

He was released on Saturday from Palm Beach County Jail on a $60,000 bond. A judge ordered him not to have no contact with minors and not to use any digital devices. News sources did not list an attorney for Perez.

According to the arrest report, investigators received a tip in January from the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children that someone in an online chat room had uploaded a child porn image last year. The Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office subpoenaed Comcast for information on the IP address that allegedly uploaded the image, and that led investigators to Perez’s home.

When questioned by investigators, Perez reportedly denied watching child pornography and told them that he only watched adult pornography on his computer. He argued that child porn involves minors younger than 12, and that he preferred porn involving girls aged between 13 and 15.

Investigators informed him that under Florida law, any image depicting someone under 18 performing a sexual act is considered child pornography. They found 22 child porn images on his computer.

Another case involving illegal sexual activity with minors was reported in Boynton Beach last week. Marco Vinicio Orrego was arrested last Wednesday in Boynton Beach for allegedly trafficking a teenage girl and pushing her to offer sexual services on the sex website Backpage.

Orrego, 31, is being charged with possession of images of sexual performance by a minor, soliciting a child into unlawful sexual conduct, and unlawful sexual activity with a minor. He is being held on a $555,000 bond. The press did not name an attorney for him.

According to the arrest report, Orrego first met the victim at the beginning of the year when they reportedly had a sexual encounter. The teen contacted Orrego this month and told him that she wanted to run away from her home. He allegedly sent an Uber to pick her up and bring her to his house.

They had another sexual encounter and then Orrego purportedly coerced her into offering prostitution services on Backpage. The victim managed to contact police and Orrego was taken into custody. He is the second person to be arrested in Boynton Beach this year for human trafficking and advertising a teenager for sex services on Backpage against her will.

Human trafficking is the use of force, fraud, or coercion to control someone for the purpose of engaging in commercial sex acts. Juvenile runaways are particularly vulnerable to traffickers. Last year, Florida ranked third in number of calls made to the national trafficking hotline.

“Unfortunately, when it comes to domestic trafficking, this is what happens,” a spokesperson for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement told new sources. “It’s the kid who ran away whether it’s because they have financial problems or self-esteem issues. These traffickers know what they’re looking for.”
