Wayne Lincoln Chin of Pembroke Pines, Florida is accused of sexually assaulting a girl over a span of 10 years starting from when she was 4 years old.
Chin, 57, is charged with lewd and lascivious molestation on a minor under 12, sexual assault, and sexual battery. He was ordered held without bond in Broward Main Jail. The press did not name an attorney for him.
According to the arrest report, the victim, who is now in her 20s, told investigators that Chin started abusing her from 1998 until 2008 when she was 14 years old. She said that Chin was a family friend and he would come to her home three to four times a week to molest her.
The molestation began with inappropriate touching of her breasts and vagina under her clothing while telling her to “relax.” Chin escalated to sex acts as she became older and began digitally penetrating her and eventually forced her to engage in oral sex and intercourse, the report said.
The victim told investigators that she didn’t tell anyone about the incidents because Chin got angry when she refused his advances. He told her that she was the one who would get in trouble if anyone found out, police said.
Investigators listened in on several controlled phone conversations the victim had with Chin and he reportedly “appeared to be very excited to hear from the victim since it had been approximately five years since they last communicated.”
While reminiscing about their sexual history, Chin allegedly told her that “he loved her and missed her very much and wanted to spend the night with her,” according to the report.
Chin was arrested on Monday. After his arrest, he reportedly asked police “How can you arrest me for something I did 20 years ago?” He also allegedly told investigators that he didn’t rape the victim, but just lay in bed and slept with her.
In a statement to the press, police said they received unconfirmed information that Chin previously worked as a soccer coach in Pembroke Pines during the late 1990s and early 2000s.
“If accurate, he would have had contact with several juveniles during said timeframe,” the Pembroke Pines Police Department said. “Due to the nature of this incident, the possibility exists that there may be additional victims related to this crime.”
Police are asking anyone who believes they or their child were victimized by Chin to contact Pembroke Pines police.
Another lewd and lascivious conduct case involving an adult and a minor was reported in Miami-Dade earlier this week. School teacher Alejandro Perez was arrested for inappropriately touching his female students.
Perez, 60, was a fifth-grade teacher at Charles R. Hadley Elementary School. He is charged with lewd and lascivious molestation of a child over 16 and lewd and lascivious conduct on a child under 12. He is being held without bond at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. Attorney information was not immediately available.
According to the arrest report, at least six students claim Perez touched them inappropriately and some students have even provided investigators with cellphone footage showing Perez touching his victims.
Perez has been a teacher for over 30 years. The Miami-Dade school district is reportedly working on terminating his employment.
