Michael Doheny of Pembroke Pines, Florida, was arrested on December 4 for allegedly causing an accident while under the influence that damaged three vehicles and sent two drivers to a hospital.

Doheny, 29, faces several charges, including failure to remain at an accident involving serious bodily injury and driving under the influence with serious bodily injury. He is being held at Broward Jail in lieu of $35,200 bond. It is unclear if he has obtained legal representation.

According to the arrest report, the accident happened on the 5100 block of Rock Island Road in Tamarac. Doheny was driving a 2016 BMW X6 SUV at around 8:30 p.m. when he crashed into a Toyota driven by Immacula Bernard.

Bernard’s vehicle was propelled forward and crashed into a Buick driven by Melrose Parkinson. The Toyota fell on its side and the Buick was thrown into a ditch. Doheny’s BMW also rolled over but landed upright.

Bernard and Parkinson had to be pulled out of their vehicles and were taken to Broward Health Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Deputies claim Doheny exited his vehicle after the accident and attempted to run from the scene. After a short foot chase, he was reportedly found hiding off the road. The deputies who arrested him claim that his speech was slurred and that he smelled of alcohol. He declined to take a blood alcohol test.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, Doheny reportedly told an officer that he ran from the scene of the crash because he was “unsure what to do when people tried to help.”
