Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation (MDCR) officer Yulian Gonzalez was arrested last week for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman he supervised while she was on house arrest, authorities said Friday.

Gonzalez, 43, was charged with four counts of armed sexual battery and four counts of armed kidnapping. He was ordered held without bond. The press did not name an attorney for him.

According to the arrest warrant, the alleged rapes occurred at the Nex Motel on NW 27th Avenue. Gonzalez was reportedly the 43-year-old victim’s case manager.

The victim told investigators that Gonzalez would rape her when he conducted his mandatory visitations. He threatened to violate her house arrest status and incarcerate her if she didn’t comply with his demands for sex, the warrant said.

Gonzalez allegedly tampered with the victim’s ankle monitor and used his unmarked patrol car to take her to the Nexx Motel on four occasions, where he forced her to perform sex acts on him, prosecutors said.

Surveillance video collected from the motel reportedly shows Gonzalez checking in and entering a room with the victim. Gonzalez also sent text messages that corroborate the victim’s allegations.

The victim told police that she rejected Gonzalez’s advances and told him that she wasn’t interested in men, to which he allegedly replied, “we need to change that,” prosecutors said.

Sources say Gonzalez has been with MDCR for 11 years. The director of the MDCR released the following statement:

“We are saddened that the actions of one employee could tarnish the good work of the proud men and women of MDCR who dedicate their lives to ensuring the safety of the public,” said director Daniel Junior. “MDCR takes allegations of employee misconduct seriously and this arrest should send a strong message that employees involved in these types of crimes will not be tolerated and will be pursued to the fullest extent of the law.”

The agency’s internal affairs department is cooperating with Miami-Dade police in the investigation.

Another sexual battery incident was reported in Coral Springs last week. Lyft driver Ralph Agustin Lopez is accused of sexually assaulting a female passenger while dropping her off at her destination in July.

Lopez, 45, was arrested on September 18 and charged with attempted sexual battery on an incapacitated person. He was ordered held on $50,000 bond. It is unclear if he has acquired the services of an attorney.

According to the arrest report, the 22-year-old victim told investigators that she had gone to Miami on a double date. She went to dinner with her date and visited several bars. She said she had six or seven drinks, and her date ordered her a Lyft home at around 4:30 a.m.

The victim told police that she remembered walking to the Lyft with her date and entering the vehicle, but she couldn’t recall the ride to Coral Springs. She later woke up to the Lyft driver on top of her, kissing and groping her, the report said.

She initially felt confused, thinking it was her date, but then realized that it was her Lyft driver. Surveillance footage collected from the victim’s apartment complex reportedly shows part of the encounter between the victim and the Lyft driver.

The Lyft driver was later identified as Lopez. It is unclear why police took so long to arrest him.
